Settlement Deadline; OverTime!

WANTED to RENT:

A New Home for South Bank HIVe! I've filed applications for Covington Housing -both Section 8 Voucher & Project-Based, initiated re-activating my HIV/AIDS Care Coordinator Case to access Housing benefits, and have completed recertifications for my other benefits. For now, my choice is limited to a cheap 1 Bdrm/studio/efficiency as the HUD subsidy I was receiving stays with "Bismarck Apts", no more $123.00 Rent Payments for awhile. Fortunately, I believe I've rounded up enough resources to get me out of this Dudley Properties HELL HOLE! Any HELP finding a new place would be greatly appreciated! If y'all see a "For Rent" sign or know someone who has a vacancy, please let me know. THANKS!

Thursday Jan 31st: Posted to Face Book; Is there any chance you could make a call & intercede with Dudley to give me a few more days to save my stuff? I've nowhere to go or put it but I'll have my check tomorrow which would make it easier to deal with. The office # is 341-6777

Brad Crothers: I called, Michael, but no one answered. I left a voicemail briefly explaining the situation along with my name, number and request to be called back as soon as possible.
Spoke to someone named Tom at the Louisville field office of HUD. He said your best option at this point would be to attempt to contact any kind of local faith based help who could offer emergency assistance as far as a place to store your things. Besides that he suggested what I just did, which is to have others make personal pleas with the property manager. Unfortunately the property manager didn't answer and has yet to get back to me. But as I said, I did explain things on his voicemail. Until he calls back there's not much else I can do without more info.

Thank you Brad Crothers. At lunchtime, I gathered my strength and walked over to the office and asked myself. Dave the Property manager said it wasn't his decision but he'd make the request and get back to me in an hour. An hour or so later he called back and said he hadn't gotten a definitive answer yet but he'd let me know... BTW; this is not an Eviction, but rather a Court Settlement that allowed me to terminate the tenancy and find a new place, which I haven't been able to do...
To be clear, I AM NOT BEING EVICTED! I & LegalAID successfully fought that after I requested a Jury Trial and the Judge urged a settlement instead.
Good Morning! Wanted to send a special SHOUT Out to my far flung friends, fellow HIV-ers and supporters to let you know that I'm safe and still here at the soon-to-be old location. As I am not being evicted which means the Sheriff wouldn't be knocking on my door unless Dudley goes back to court, I decided my life is worth saving and I'm taking the time to do so before I have to join the ranks of the Homeless. After all, I am not the villain in this Housing Horror Story. When I awoke to brisk winds, snow and 8 degree temp, I knew I made the right decision. Again, many thanks to those of you who've made calls on my behalf and sent kind messages of support and encouragement. I'll post another update later after I go to the bank and cross a few more things off my to-do list.
Love Y'All, Michael

Steven L Frank: Do you have a number? I see it. I'll try. Just got your message an hour ago. How much stuff do you have?

The basic Household stuff like bagged mattresses and the bare minimum of other furnishings that I need to Survive that have been "treated" & "cleared" and I'm sure about. Kitchen stuff, appliances, clocks, lamps... I really just need some help and hands reviewing and decide what I need to keep in order to keep pursuing the AIDS-Free Generation. Pam Mullins volunteered to keep our Computer secure and safe till finding a new Home for The South Bank HIVe & @SoBankQueenBee. I've other friends that are working on solutions, I have an appt on Mon @ Welcome House with Vince who had a lead with a landlord who said he had a 1 Bdrm emptying and he'd know if it was ready after the weekend...
I just want a decent, safe and sanitary place to live and do my thing and and be able to walk to get what I need (as long as I'm able), preferably not a walk-up with a Human & Compassionate approach to Housing Quality Standards... If the right and proper Authority came to town to audit and inspect every aspect of the buildings, individual units, Owners/Operators of HUD Contracted & Assisted Taxpayer funded Housing like "Bismark", "Germantown", Dudley Properties, Dudley Properties II, LLC would and could support the effort to spend taxpayers $$ better and more efficient and cost-effective by exposing and weeding out Providers who ain't puttin' OUT what they've Promised and Contracted to. Section 8 Voucher Units, Housing Authority Projects/units, Income based "Projects"...
The settlement also provided that they would not require or pursue the months of rent they refused during the Court Process, pay my normal monthly rent to LegalAID for January and vacate the unit by the End of January/1st of February. As my taxpayer funded and much appreciated Housing Assistance payment of $571.00 to the Gross RENT per unit of $829!? That leaves tenant rent of $258.00 -Utility HUD assistance $135 = My monthly tenant rent of $123 + my own choice & payment for Utilities. Their BugBoy did return and complete his "Treatment" and certified that we're all clear, LMAO!
The Court Process & Settlement was a Win-Win: I get out of a 1 Bdrm wlk-up in a 4 unit Building for "Seniors/Disabled" in MainStrasse Village aka "Bismarck Apartments" that has great potential and was only bought for the profitable Fair Market Contract Rates from HUD. Once I move out; now that I've filed every application for Low-Income, Disabled, Section 8 Voucher, Income Based Public & Private Site Based Voucher and joined the waiting lists. I have no problem with terminating the contract before the Lease Term ends and acknowledge the JOY that brings all Parties involved Since I've now been "Certified" Free & Clear regarding the BedBug Problem in my unit which they first sent their "Professional Pest Control-HUD Accepted, State Pest Control License for purchasing & treating" contractor, Jason Jameson dba !? No Business/Occuptional License according to City & County records to Treat after my 1st sighting & reporting in November 2009. This means his 3rd try should be the charm. At least I had my required 5 yr re-paint and reorganization along the Journey. The Hayes-Gibson HUD Property Manager, Angie Slover was a great move urged by Ky Housing Corp following the "Bismark Apartments" 49.43 out of 100 Inspection Score. She and I communicated about Tenant Issues as well as "Building", "Project" Codes, Rules, Regulations, Tenants Rights and what HUD pays for and expects.
Since I've been certified BedBug free & clear which I signed onto; I'd be willing to pay another month's rent of $123.00 (given the high probability that they won't tell HUD I've left & keep taking the HUD money till the term of the lease ends in April) to just Stay In Shelter & prepare to Move into a new apartment with a Landlord who is comfortable working & recommended by Vincent at Welcome House and willing to work with 3rd Party Payors while I sit on the HUD/Sct8 waiting lists as opposed to Storing my Bare & Most required furnishings and belongings and then moving them again.

Steven L Frank: I'll try to work what I can out for you if everything falls through. I'll check out what is doable.

Friday February 1st:

Brad Crothers: How's it going, Michael?

Hey B.C! Thanks for thinkin abt me & checkin. I'm safe, sound. sheltered & relaxed at the least thru Super Sunday into Monday once offices open for business. Since the weather is frightful, I'm trying to bundle errands and keep exposure to the elements at a minimum. Near & Dear longtime Friends who know My Journey are working on the solutions to ensure that I won't have to line up for a nightly shelter bed, lose or store my possessions and resume our work with a minimum of downtime. Grabbing a bite to eat now and then back to sorting Protect/Take, Trash old stuff lI don't need, furnishings etc that can be easily and cheaply replaced which I'll give away, (Lamps, table tops, nick knacks, etc.). Same goes for Office, Computer, Presentation supplies like colored papers, stickers. Get back at ya later!

Farrah Isaacs Vaughn replied; "Well, unless they included some sort of provision in there that would stay the tenancy has ended & they could have the sheriff set you out. Even then, that would take about a week for them to file it, coordinate with the sheriff dept, etc. I hate that. I can ask Cara when is the absolute latest you have to be out according to the docs, etc"
Oh, do ask Cara. If I'd gotten the paperwork I'd know. But a friend of mine said that if there was an eviction order I'd have gotten something directly in the mail!? I can deal with being homeless a bit, Vincent @ Welcome House has a lead and we have appt Monday at 2:00 pm; but not losing all my stuff...
