HAPPY NEW YEAR!? Now, what's next...

In 1994, three years after my HIV+ diagnosis and Issue 3 had thundered through Cincinnati, I moved across the river back to my roots on The SouthBank. What follows are journal entries and my thoughts on the situation at that time:
"People who have never had a problem with or been touched by discrimination, verbal or physical abuse or harassment are quite content to stay in their closets and continue to 'pass' through mainstream society. But there are things they can do from behind their closet doors - Quietly and without fanfare that can make a difference.  I ended this entry by paraphrasing a story about The Holocaust:
 
"I DIDN'T SPEAK UP - '94"
"In America, the proponents of Family Values and Christian Morality first came for the Drag Queens, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Drag Queen. Then they came for the LeatherMen, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a LeatherMan. Then they came for the radical Gay Rights Activists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't about to speak out from the closet and rock the boat. Then they came to quarantine the AIDS/HIV-Challenged, and I didn't speak out because I was disease-free. THEN they broke down my closet door and came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me."  

WANTED to RENT:

A New Home for South Bank HIVe! I've filed applications for Covington Housing -both Section 8 Voucher & Project-Based, initiated re-activating my HIV/AIDS Care Coordinator Case to access Housing benefits, and have completed recertifications for my other benefits. For now, my choice is limited to a cheap 1 Bdrm/studio/efficiency as the HUD subsidy I was receiving stays with "Bismarck Apts", no more $123.00 Rent Payments for awhile. Fortunately, I believe I've rounded up enough resources to get me out of this Dudley Properties HELL HOLE! Any HELP finding a new place would be greatly appreciated! If y'all see a "For Rent" sign or know someone who has a vacancy, please let me know. THANKS!

YEP! Getting ready to move The South Bank HIVe to a BETTER Home by 01-31-13 with nothing left to pay but January's Rent. Our Desired outcome; however, the HUD Slumlord who initiated Eviction proceedings in RETALIATION for my Complaints about BedBugs and Jason Jameson dba "Professional Pest Control Technician under Contract to Dudley Properties II, LLC", after I registered a complaint with The City of Covington. Fortunately; I AM STILL THE Legal Tenant with Rights & Responsibilites until the END of January! I still have time to assemble a Brief and dispatch it to the Secretary of HUD, the Inspector General, Louisville Field Office, Ky Housing Corp, City of Covington...
 
Apparently, Dudley has heard from Code Enforcement... We all got notices taped to our front doors that advises: "On Wednesday Jan 16th from 9:00 am -5:00 pm (until done) We will be coming in your unit for an inspection. If you know of repai...rs that need taken care of please HAVE THE INFORMATION Ready. We will do a complete walk through of the units if you have a dog make sure it's secure. Thank you, Management"
As if they haven't done this before or ignored the problems THAT HAVE Been reported. It's going to be very difficult to be civil with them...
 



On Wednesday Jan 16th: Notice left; "DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE ARE RESCHEDULING THE INSPECTIONS. I WILL SEND OUT ANOTHER NOTICE IN ADVANCE. THANK YOU, MANAGEMENT" Everyone knows that Landlords use Evictions to retaliate against Tenants who Stand Up for their Rights and report them... Would also be a good idea to inform any non-compliant Slumlord's status to their HUD Compliance Agency (Ky Housing Corp) if they're getting TAXPAYER $$ and are cited by The City! It's also been rumored to be the Annual KHC HUD Inspection... Could it be the unforseen Circumstance is a joint meeting with all parties they are Accountable TO!
